Tinkering and Building

Tinkering and Building Challenges add to our work at Long View. Over the next weeks, the tinkering challenge will be "Building a Scribbling Machine." Working with circuits, motors, and miscellaneous materials, the kids will work to solve the challenge and create a variety of machines. The Tinkering Challenge gives us an opportunity to discuss productive ways of approaching mathematics and science. We will eventually talk about the fact that you don't always know what the solution is going to be as you get started on a challenge (or a mathematics problem), the importance of iterating, and more.
